October is now in full swing which means, recital planning is well under way!

Over the past few dance seasons, our year end recital dates of been changing quite a bit. We are happy to say that things are returning to their normal schedule. So, what is that schedule and how can you be prepared? Here is a little breakdown of some of the key things to look for.

November - We will be officially announcing our senior recital dates! (Junior Recital is still May 28, 2017) Along with this announcement we will post our preliminary recital schedule in the reception room. This schedule will tell you which show(s) your dancer will be performing in. If you have a scheduling conflict now is the time to let us know. We are more than happy to rearrange the schedule to make it the best possible for the majority of students, but we can only do that if we have plenty of advanced notice. Once December hits, we can no longer accept your requests to change as we will be finalizing the schedule.
November 15 - Your costume deposit will be processed along with your regular tuition fees.

November 28-December 3 - This week we will be coming to every class to measure or fit costumes!! It is a very exciting week and we need all students to be at all of their classes. If you do need to miss, please let your teacher know ahead of time and we will schedule another week to visit the class.

A few things to expect during this week are:
  • Less dance time. This process can take the entire class time, which means students may get little or no time to dance. We do our best to do fittings and measurements discreetly while the class is running as normal, but sometimes this isn’t possible. However, we feel that experiencing and learning the process of costume fittings is a valuable part of your child's dance education as it is a part of all performance art disciplines.
  • Student absolutely MUST be in their uniforms. Costumes will be tried on over top of dance uniforms and are sometimes based on part of the students uniform. So please come to class prepared.
  • We do our best to arrive at the start of the class time, so please make sure to be on time as well.

January - In January we will be sending home our Recital Handbook. It will detail all the things you need to know about recital, including the final schedule.

February 15 - Your costume balance will be processed along with your regular tuition fees.

March & April - These months are spent learning and rehearsing choreography. Class attendance is vital to this process, as choreography is truly a team activity. We only accept 3 absences from class before the teacher will consider removing a dancer from choreography. If you know you will be missing a lot of classes, please discuss this with your teacher ahead of time.

May - Picture and Dress Rehearsal will be happening during May. The details are still being worked out, but you will certainly find them in your Recital Handbooks handed out in January.

We also have a few special things happening to celebrate our 30th anniversary, but we are keeping those as a surprise for you for later!!
