Entry Level Technique, once a week program
Days: Not offered in 2011/12
Description: Modern 1 uses techniques developed by two of the pioneers of Modern dance. Students will explore various movement qualities, shapes and level changes as well as develop strong musicality through exposure to a wide range of music. Self expression, confidence and a love for dance are encouraged in this fun and upbeat class.

Days: Thursday 5:30-6:30
Description: This level of the modern program establishes foundation vocabulary, such as, plies, lunges, turns, floor work, rolls, jumps and leaps. Modern 2 also encourages students to develop flexibility, strength, and creative expression.
Ages: 9-13 yrs, with 2 years of dance training OR 11-13 yrs, with little or no dance training

Must have 3 years of dance training
Days: Thursday 4:30-5:30
Description: Modern 3 continues to develop movement vocabulary (contract/release, drop/lift, parallel, spiral) and students’ performance dynamics through structured improvisation and choreographic assignments.

Description: In Senior Modern 1 emphasis of technical aptitude is increased through challenging movement sequences, musicality and choreographic opportunities.
Ages: 14 yrs & up, with little or no previous Modern technique training

| Contemporary Performance Dynamics Read full class description and register | Intermediate Foundation Year 2 Ballet or higher is required
Days:
Description: Contemporary Performance Skills will focus on developing dramatic expression, musicality and interpretive dynamics through movement exploration, improvisation and the introduction of contemporary techniques. This class is specially designed for Ballet students who have completed Intermediate Foundation Year One or higher and have little or no Modern Contemporary experience.
Ages: For Ballet students at the Intermediate Foundation Year Two level or higher OR by teacher placement

| Senior Modern 2 Read full class description and register | Technique Focus Class, once a week program
Must have previous dance training
Days: Thursday 6:30-7:45
Description: At this level, students will be able to demonstrate strength and confidence in Modern technique and have a strong movement vocabulary. Extra attention is placed on artistic development and performance dynamics.
Ages: 14 yrs & up, must have previous dance training

| Intermediate Intensive Modern Read full class description and register | Intensive program students are well versed in Modern skills, have strong Ballet and/or Jazz technique and attend a minimum of 3 classes per week at Pegasus Studios.
Days: Thursday 7:45-9:00
Description: Intermediate Intensive Modern is designed for students with previous Modern training as well as strong technique in another dance discipline. This class will work on developing the technical aptitude, musicality, performance dynamics and the personal voice of each student.
Ages: 15 yrs & up with strong Ballet technique

| Advanced Intensive Modern Read full class description and register | Intensive program students are well versed in Modern skills, have strong Ballet and/or Jazz technique and attend a minimum of 3 classes per week at Pegasus Studios.
Days: Monday 5:45-7:15
Description: At this level students must have strong training in Modern technique and another dance discipline. This level requires a mature work ethic and a strong commitment as the work will gear students towards continuing their dance training or careers outside of Pegasus at post-secondary institutions or with professional companies. A strong emphasis is placed on developing the personal voice of each student.
Ages: By teacher placement only
